Qualifications
- Electrical certificate from a recognized institution/college/university with a minimum diploma or VETA level 3
- A Valid Driving License is an added advantage
- Electrical license an added advantage
- High voltage licenses are an added advantage
Competencies
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Mining Industry
- Underground mining experience is an added advantage
- Knowledge of Low voltage electrical installations, single and 3-phase
- Hazard identification and Risk assessment
- Communication, Fluent in written and verbal in English & Swahili
- Computer literate in MS Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and quality control
- Able to understand and follow electrical drawings
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe work practices, attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, using required PPE, incident/accident reporting, and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Policies and other relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Identify, rectify, and/or report all possible hazards daily when on shift
- Conduct accurate Field Level Risk Assessment for every task assigned
- Compliance with Standard Operating Procedures for safe work daily –Isolation, Lockout, confined space, working at height, lifting and rigging
- Perform scheduled equipment inspections daily, weekly, Monthly & report identified defects within the shift
- Compliance with Equipment Preventive Maintenance Schedule and carry out work accordingly daily
- Complete team-based Job Safety Analysis for every task without a Standard Operating Procedure
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area both during and after completing a job
- Install and maintain all electrical equipment to reduce unplanned maintenance and optimize availability
- Overhaul electrical equipment by setting company policies and procedures
- Conduct and complete required testing and safety checks on electrical drills
- Attend to breakdowns and complete necessary fault-finding
- Ensure total adherence to all safety, health, and environmental procedures and guidelines as well as all other company policies and procedures
- Provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to less experienced personnel
- Implement and execute all tasks and instructions as instructed by superiors
- Conduct Installation & commissioning of new equipment as per Company Standard Operating Procedures
- Prepare and file all required records ready for auditing at all times
- Conduct accurate handovers every day
- Submit accurate and correct reports
